What kinds of projects can be submitted?
Impact UTD welcomes applications from faculty, staff and student teams. Projects must be affiliated with UT Dallas and have a direct impact on the university, academic priorities, research or student life.
The best projects have a compelling story and a specific deadline that creates a sense of urgency to encourage donations during the 30 day active fundraising period. If you are unsure about whether or not your project is suitable for Impact UTD, please email impact@utdallas.edu.
Are there certain requirements to start a project?
A great idea, passion for realizing your idea, a strong network of advocates, and a communication plan. Successful projects require a team of active faculty, students or staff who are willing to email their personal network to ask for support as well as share their project on social media.
I have an idea for a project. What is the next step?
Submit your online project application. Project applications are accepted and reviewed on an ongoing basis.
What is an appropriate funding goal for projects?
Impact UTD recommends setting a fundraising goal between $1,500 and $10,000.
How do groups access the funds they raise?
Teams receive all funds raised, even if the project goal isn't achieved. Funds will only be deposited in UT Dallas cost centers. Impact UTD staff will work with project team leaders and department administrators to establish appropriate accounts and ensure a university disbursement authority is in place.
Who reviews and approves project applications?
Submitted applications are initially reviewed by the Impact UTD coordinator and then presented for consideration to the Impact UTD panel. The panel evaluates applications based on: team commitment, goal achievement potential, project appeal and impact. If approved by the panel, a final sign-off by the appropriate Dean or Vice President is required.
Who oversees Impact UTD?
The UT Dallas Office of Development and Alumni Relations manages Impact UTD.
May I use a different crowdfunding platform?
