The LOTUS Project nurtures artistic engagement on the UT Dallas campus by working with student artists and University leaders. The project installs student art exhibits on campus and hosts art-based social events in an effort to encourage student artists, promote art appreciation and beautify the campus.
The LOTUS Project works to deepen the connection UTD has to the artistic world. We install a variety of student art pieces around campus including spaces in the Jindal School of Management and Green Hall. We also invest time and money into programs to build the LOTUS community including outings such as picnic socials, late-night tours of our exhibitions, a biweekly newsletter, and regular Instagram contests and promotions for our members. Additionally, we also fund student artwork to encourage artists to engage with their craft and push themselves creatively. In the future, we are looking towards establishing a solid relationship with local Dallas artists to ensure valuable connections to student artists and eventually provide a platform on which our artists can sell and market their pieces online.
Who We are
The LOTUS Project is a UTD student and alumni-run endeavor focused on growing student artists and making the UTD campus a more beautiful place. The two groups that make up the LOTUS Project are our artists and the leadership group of eight individuals who focus on the financing, marketing and administration of The LOTUS Project to facilitate our artists’ creativity.
The LOTUS Project will provide a more visually appealing campus and engage students majoring in the visual arts. UTD is a very STEM-focused campus and by providing an avenue for students of any major to pursue their artistic passion, we will further broaden the culture and minds of an already diverse campus. We believe that investing in efforts to expose more students to the arts is a key way UTD can become an even more well-rounded campus.
