ASME Competitions Team

Who is ASME?

UT Dallas' American Society of Mechanical Engineers (UTD ASME) is a professional organization that provides engineering students opportunities to network with professionals, connect with fellow students, and gain experience through hands on projects with our Competitions Team and contests like our Hack UTD CAD challenge.

The UTD ASME is composed of the best and brightest engineering students here at UT Dallas.  Our members have worked hard this year by qualifying to compete in the Shell Eco-Marathon Competition, participated in HackUTD, a 24 hour design competition, and successfully created a local outreach program. The next challenge we want to take on is the ASME Student Design Challenge.

Student Design Challenge

UTD ASME Competitions Team will be competing in the ASME Student Design Challenge at ASME E-Fest 2020. UTD ASME will design, construct and operate a prototype that will solve the designated problem statement that is announced each year. The 2019 challenge is to create a remotely controlled robot that can collect balls off the floor and move them to a designated location. In order to prepare for this competition, UTD ASME is attending the ASME E-Fest 2019 in April.

ASME Engineer Fest

This is a national conference where students get to see competitions hosted by ASME, network with ASME members and industry professionals, interview for jobs, and participate in workshops hosted by industry professionals to improve their mechanical engineering skill-set. This year Michigan State University is hosting this conference in East Lansing, Michigan.

Funds donated here will go towards buying new tools and materials needed for the Student Design Challenge. This is an exciting new challenge for UTD ASME in which we will get to design, build, and compete a robot against other schools.

What can I do?

By donating to our Team, you are supporting the success and development of the next generation of engineers. Hands-on projects such as the Shell Eco-Marathon, Formula Sun Grand Prix, and Student Design Challenge, allow our members to gain valuable experience that can be transferred to professional internships, research positions, and successful careers in the future. Your donation is greatly appreciated and will help us prove why UT Dallas continues to be a national leader in engineering!
