UTD students at work in the sculpture and printmaking studio.
The visual and performing arts program offers an array of interdisciplinary creative classes. We teach students the skills needed to materialize their ideas across a range of media from woodworking to printmaking. We would like to incorporate textiles, sewing and soft sculpture into our ARTS 3368: Mixed Media course.
Our fundraising goal is to reach $900 so that we can purchase 4 Singer Heavy Duty sewing machines for student use on creative projects. Interest in the arts is burgeoning, especially with tangible materials. The inclusion of sewing and textiles will open new opportunities for artistic innovation and synthesis of ideas.

The purchase of these sewing machines will allow us to expand the tools and techniques we can teach to students for artistic expression. The arts are collaborative and engaging fields. We want to provide the tools necessary for students to have interdisciplinary range of experiences. UT Dallas is a tier-one research institution. Let’s provide tier-one resources to amplify the “A” in STEAM.
The sculpture and printmaking facilities located in Research and Operations West (ROW) provide a multi-modal space for hands-on making and creative exploration across media. ROW is a unique space which has a number of industrial tools and many moving parts shared by multiple classes in the School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology.
