Help the UTD Table Tennis Tennis Team compete at NCTTA National Collegiate Championships 2024

Project: Take UTD Table Tennis Tennis Team to NCTTA National Collegiate Championships 2024 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. The team consists of eight players and two coaches.

Goal: Raise money to cover hte cost of registration, flights, transport, hotel etc. If we reach the goal, we will be able to attend the tournament. Our university qualified and attended the National Championships for the previous two years, but during those years, the tournament was in Austin, TX which meant that we were able to drive. As we need to fly to Wisconsin this year, our cost is much higher, so we need to sufficient funds to attend.

Use of funds: Flights (primary goal), registration fees, transport (car rentals), hotel, uniforms, food, etc. Our goal is to raise $5,000, which will completely cover all of our costs. However, our primary goal is to raise enough money to cover the cost of flights. This can be achieved by raising approximately $3,000 ($300 per person). Registration and uniforms will cost another $500-$700. Our hotel accommodations will cost another $500-$700. Finally, we may need to rent cars, buy food and may have other miscellaneous costs which may bring our total cost up to $5,000.

Impact: UT Dallas has one of the most competitive table tennis teams in the country, ranked number 14 in the nation by NCTTA last season. This year, we have an even more competitive team. Our performances last year have already established records in UTD history. The team this year consists of five of the top 10 highest rated table tennis players in UTD history, including the highest rated player. If all our players are able to attend the tournament, we have a solid chance of making it to at least the quarterfinals at NCTTA Nationals, which would be a UTD record performance. This will greatly improve UTD’s reputation in the table tennis community. As a school with an emphasis on academics over athletics, performing this well on the collegiate national stage will bring a great sense of pride and unity to the UT Dallas student body and the greater UTD community.

Our team ranked 2nd in the Texas Division and 14th nationally last year. With the rating of our players, we will easily be in the top ten of the nation. This is a ‘golden generation’ of table tennis players at UTD.

Group: Our group is the UT Dallas Table Tennis Club. The club consists of all paying members. The UTD Table Tennis Team is made up of the top eight players in the club. This is the team that represents UTD in NCTTA collegiate tournaments. Our group’s mission is to create an accessible and friendly environment for all UTD students to take part in table tennis and help them achieve their goals in the sport. A big part of our club is also to support the members and give them the resources to represent the University in the highest level of collegiate table tennis.
