Alpha Kappa Psi at The University of Texas at Dallas is excited to announce HackFin, our inaugural 24-hour Fintech hackathon happening on Nov. 9-10 at the Naveen Jindal School of Management (JSOM). This event will bring together students from across the country to develop cutting-edge solutions to financial technology challenges. As a leading business fraternity, Alpha Kappa Psi’s mission is to bridge the gap between college and professional life by offering students real-world, hands-on experiences. HackFin embodies this mission, preparing students to excel in one of today’s most dynamic fields: fintech.

HackFin is more than just a hackathon, it’s a pivotal experience where students hone both their technical and professional skills. Fintech is transforming the financial sector and the demand for innovative thinkers in this space is only growing. HackFin will provide participants with opportunities to tackle real-world financial issues, develop marketable solutions and network with fintech leaders. For sponsors, HackFin is a chance to engage with top talent and shape the next generation of fintech professionals by providing real challenges and offering guidance to competing teams.

Our fundraising target is $1,000. Reaching this goal is essential to delivering an impactful experience for both participants and sponsors. With these funds, we can ensure the event runs smoothly by covering costs like venue, catering, workshops and prizes. Hitting this target will also allow us to host workshops from fintech experts, providing students with mentorship and practical insights. Surpassing our goal will enable us to elevate HackFin even further, offering additional prizes, expanding workshop offerings and enhancing the overall event experience.

We plan to use the funds raised to cover the following key areas:

  • Catering for participants, ensuring students are well-fed and energized throughout the 24-hour hackathon.
  • Prizes for winning teams, providing meaningful rewards for the top fintech solutions.
  • Workshops and keynote speakers, bringing in fintech professionals to lead hands-on sessions and inspire students.
  • Event materials and equipment, supplying participants with the necessary tools to succeed.

If we exceed our fundraising goal, the additional funds will enable us to:

  • Invite more participants, creating a more diverse and inclusive event.
  • Expand the prize pool and offer more substantial rewards for winning teams.
  • Increase the number and scope of workshops, providing even more value to participants.
  • Boost our marketing efforts, helping to attract more sponsors and expand HackFin’s reach and impact.

HackFin will have a lasting impact on students, UTD and the broader community. Participants will gain valuable skills, experience collaboration and learn to solve real-world fintech problems. The event will further establish UTD as a center for fintech innovation and help foster stronger ties between academia and industry. In turn, sponsors will benefit from direct engagement with some of the brightest minds in the fintech space, while the broader community will see the positive results of supporting student-driven innovation.

Our HackFin event team is led by Keshav K. (committee head) and supported by a dedicated committee of talented students: Amrutha V., Caleb S., Kaustubh A., Koustav C., Risheel G., Rithvik B., Steven L., Simran M., Veer W. and Sanyukta B.. Together, we are working to make HackFin a groundbreaking event that brings together students, industry professionals and sponsors to explore the exciting and evolving world of fintech.

Our fraternity is known for developing future business leaders and offering students a chance to engage in real-world projects, such as HackFin, that combine professional growth with meaningful community impact.

HackFin stands out not just for its innovative focus on fintech, but because of the talented, driven team behind it. Our committee has designed an event that will challenge students to push the boundaries of technology and finance. Alpha Kappa Psi is committed to providing transformative experiences and HackFin reflects our mission to help students build their brands and develop real-world skills. Supporting HackFin means investing in the future of fintech and empowering the next generation of leaders.
