Our mission is to support a peer-led tutoring program, specifically designed to enhance student learning and performance in high enrollment courses. Initiated in fall 2023, we are committed to fostering academic excellence and success for every student. We are more than a tutoring service — we are a community where students help each other succeed.
Our free tutoring services extend to various courses, including General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physical Chemistry. Our very passionate student leaders understand the challenges faced by their peers and are dedicated to helping them gain confidence and succeed in learning. With personalized attention they tailor their tutoring to fit the needs of individual students. This support system improves students’ performance, boosts their confidence, reduces anxiety and enables student retention in chemistry programs.
Since opening our doors, over 1,000 students have been positively impacted each semester, and we continue to strive for greater reach. Here are some testimonials from our students:
Will Siu: “I came from a learning differences school that was very slow paced and had limited preparation for the rigor of the sciences courses in a STEM school such as UTD. As a freshman, I struggled with General Chemistry and with anxiety. I was unsure how to study chemistry and found the rigor very daunting. The Chemistry Clinic was a gamechanger for me. I found the community of the Chemistry Clinic very warm and helpful. With all the help and resources provided by the leaders, I was able to succeed. I continue to use this valuable resource to support my ongoing studies and maintain my academic success.”
Praise Agbe: “Before coming to the organic chemistry clinic, I was really struggling to grasp the subject. I heard about the clinic and decided to give it a try, why not? And it has been a lifesaver! I was able to understand difficult concepts like reaction mechanisms, synthesis and stereochemistry, which I struggled with before. My leader, Uma, breaks down the information, so it is not overwhelming and helps me process the concepts easily. Since regularly attending the clinic, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in both my understanding and performance in my chemistry classes.”
Your generous donations will contribute significantly to the continuity of our program by covering operational expenses and compensating our dedicated undergraduate student leaders. By investing in the future of our chemistry community, you are ensuring that there is no student left behind.
