Help fund the COMET VEX U Team

Comet Robotics at UT Dallas is a student organization with the goal of promoting robotics at UT Dallas and in the surrounding area through outreach, projects and workshops. We’re building a world-class robotics program, competing with colleges and universities across the globe in various competitions and programs.

VEX U is a robotics program that focuses on engaging students through hands-on projects and competitions. These projects and competitions help students gain experience in engineering, programming, design and project management. Students work on different sub-teams that focus on what they enjoy making and have the ability to join other groups and learn about different fields than the ones they’re used to.

This year, our goal is to go to the VEX U Robotics World Championship and Texas State Competition. This would allow us to represent universities at the national and world levels and to showcase the fun and experience one obtains as a part of a real-world robotics project. Extra funds raised would be used to encourage more people to join our team, which creates hands-on learning opportunities for more people and helps us build better and more innovative robots to take with us to competition.

Our team isn’t exclusive to specific majors or programs. We have four separate sub-teams: Software, Design/Mechanical, Media and Documentation. Each team focuses on a variety of different tasks.

The work on robots is divided into two groups: one that focuses on the programming aspect of the robots (Software) and the other that focuses on the design and building of the robots (Design/Mechanical). This structure helps with organizing and delegating tasks and allows team members to focus on areas that they are most interested in.

This division of labor also allows for a more focused and detailed approach to tasks, since all the individual parts have someone pouring their time and energy into them, making sure no glaring mistakes are overlooked. Alongside building their own skills in their specific field, students are encouraged to work with one another in their respective sub-team in addition to collaborating with fellow sub-teams. This is to make sure that they understand what their portion of the work needs to do and how it correlates to the other team’s work.

By supporting our VEX U team financially, we can not only continue educating our student body about the incredible potential of robotics, but also work toward our goal of establishing UT Dallas as a world-class institution for competitive robotics on a global scale. Thank you for your support of VEX U and Comet Robotics at UT Dallas!
