Support the Puppy Raisers Support Fund

The Puppy Raisers Support Fund is a project from UTD SIT (Service Dogs in Training), a collegiate branch of Canine Companions. Our mission is to raise and train future service dogs, providing them with essential early care, socialization and training over their first 12-18 months. These service dogs go on to transform the lives of individuals with disabilities, offering them enhanced independence and support, placed free of charge to those who need them most. At UTD SIT, our members work hands-on with puppies, teaching them obedience and social skills — it truly takes a village to raise a service dog!

Our fundraising goal is $1,500, which will help alleviate the financial burden for our dedicated volunteer puppy raisers by covering the costs of kibble, training materials and other essential supplies. Reaching this goal will allow us to fully support the food costs for our active raisers and any additional donations will help support future incoming service puppies and provide sponsorship opportunities for raisers who face financial barriers. With the club having tripled in the number of dogs since last semester and continuing to grow, every dollar raised will enable us to support even more puppies in the future. The more funds we raise, the more lives we can change!

Funds will be allocated for:

  • Purchasing kibble for the puppies
  • Providing training materials like leashes and obedience equipment.
  • Supporting veterinary visits or medical expenses for the dogs.

Help support our puppy raisers and strengthen the service dog training pipeline!

Ultimately benefiting veterans, adults and kids with disabilities, our program also gives students a chance to give back, building compassion and responsibility. You’ll often spot our puppies around UTD, even in class, as they get trained right here on campus. By supporting this program, students are directly helping future service dogs who will go on to change lives, continuing Canine Companions’ proven track record successful service dogs.
