Support APO-AEZ Easter Eggstravaganza

Our chapter will be hosting “Easter Eggstravaganza,” a large-scale Easter event for kids in the Richardson, TX area. This event will benefit elementary-school-aged children and take place on campus in a large, open area at UT Dallas, such as Sciences Building courtyard or SU Galaxy Rooms. We plan to host a fun, festive event that includes an Easter egg hunt, face painting, a bounce house, balloon making and more. Eggstravaganza will also feature a clothing drive to collect items and donate them to a local organization serving people in need. Our club hosts one large-scale community project each semester to make an impact here at UTD and we need your support to make it happen!

Our Goal

Our fundraising goal is $1,500. Reaching this goal will fund Eggstravaganza, support additional community support programs and provide important support to chapter operations. We anticipate that 50% of the funds will go towards Eggstravaganza, 35% will go towards our regularly scheduled community service events like “Feed the Homeless” — where we buy meal ingredients for sack lunches and distribute them in downtown Dallas or deliver them to Dallas Sandwich Sundays — finally, 15% of the funds will go towards paying dues to Alpha Phi Omega national headquarters. This helps us keep membership fees as low as possible to lessen any financial burden for those that want to be part of our organization.

If we exceed our fundraising goal, we will use any additional funds to support enhancing and adding activities to Eggstravaganza, provide more supplies for community service events, use the funds for our semesterly retreat for all members or use funds to support sending more members to the Alpha Phi Omega (APO) National Conference held every two years (this year is APO’s 100th anniversary and we want as many people as possible to attend!).

Some kids may grow up with parents not being able to afford a fun Easter for their kids. They could be growing up in a household where parents can’t afford the time and resources to give their kids a memorable Easter holiday. Hosting this event will give kids a fun couple of hours the day before Easter Sunday and hopefully a memorable experience. It also provides clothes for those who will need it and takes away a financial burden for the parents.

It will also increase publicity for our local chapter and will put a smile on everyone’s faces in the fraternity. Our chapter requires everyone to participate in the big service project each semester. Each semester, everyone gets an amazing sense of accomplishment from a big event like this!

About APO, The National Service Fraternity

To quote from our official national website: “Alpha Phi Omega is the single most represented gender inclusive service organization in the United States. Since 1925, more than 525,000 members on over 375 campuses, continue to provide more service on more campuses than any other collegiate service organization. Alpha Phi Omega teaches through the principles of leadership, friendship and service that we are architects of our own ambitions and that each of us has the opportunity to develop ourselves to be whatever we seek to be.”

About our chapter, Alpha Epsilon Zeta

We are the UT Dallas chapter of the Alpha Phi Omega national service fraternity, founded in 1998. We’re an all-inclusive and secular community service organization. As such, we do not limit membership to any race, religion, major, gender identity or sexuality. We are committed to our three tenets: be a leader, be a friend and be of service. By joining APO, members can attend fun volunteering events in the DFW area with fellow brothers and sisters! To join our chapter, all you need to do is get inducted as a pledge and complete pledge requirements. Pledge requirements include completing 15 service hours, attending pledge class and general once a week, completing pledge fundraising, service and fellowship events and paying dues of $100 per semester.

Our chapter is relatively small compared to lots of others around the country and world. Receiving any sort of funding for the advancement of our chapter operations and large service event would be extremely impactful. The funding being provided goes right back to the community and our chapter members to allow them to be the best possible versions of themselves and to serve the community with the best resources possible.

Every semester, our organization offers a unique, large-scale service event to benefit our surrounding DFW community. We have had experience running events for decades, starting from the founding of our chapter in 1998. In the last few years, our big service events have been ToT (trick or treating for canned goods) and Easter Eggstravaganza. Instead of trick or treating in the normal fashion, our chapter and its members put up flyers door to door during October, requesting homes put out canned/boxed goods for us to pick up on Halloween night. On average, we have collected around 1,400 canned/boxed goods each time we hold this event, and we are going for even more this year! At last year’s Easter Eggstravaganza event, over 25 families attended! A future goal we have is to bring back Math and Science Camp in spring 2026, something that was very popular with our chapter and the Richardson community before the COVID-19 pandemic. This was extremely successful and is something we are actively working to explore bringing back after more planning.
