This project will be launching soon.
Help tomorrow's leaders make a global impact!
The Naveen Jindal School of Management is launching Global Service Week, a new, student-centered initiative that empowers business students to transform local service into global impact. Through hands-on service projects, interactive workshops and reflective experiences, participants will explore how community engagement connects directly to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This program stands out by combining JSOM’s business-minded approach to leadership with a globally conscious vision, helping students see that business and service go hand in hand in shaping a better world.
Funding Goals and Impact
Our primary fundraising goal of $2,500 will directly support the core needs of Global Service Week, ensuring students have the resources to meaningfully engage in service projects and learning experiences:
- $1,200 for service project supplies (food items, hygiene kits and materials for student-led initiatives).
- $600 for speaker honoraria, workshops and experiential learning opportunities.
- $500 for event logistics, setup and promotional items.
- $200 for marketing and outreach.
Our stretch goal of $5,000 will allow us to expand and enhance the program, including:
- Additional service projects and supplies to engage more students and community partners.
- Extra workshops or guest speakers to enrich learning experiences.
- Enhanced marketing and outreach to broaden student participation and community awareness.
- Upgraded event logistics and materials to increase the overall quality and impact of the program.
Every contribution helps students turn volunteer hours into meaningful lessons in leadership, social responsibility and global citizenship, while supporting JSOM’s role as a model for integrating service learning with business education.
What sets Global Service Week apart is its unique collaboration between two powerhouse programs:
- UTDserv — JSOM’s hub for service engagement, connecting business students to impactful volunteer experiences that develop real-world skills and community awareness.
- JSOM Abroad — The Jindal School’s bridge to global experiences, inspiring students to explore cultural perspectives and see their education as part of a global story.
Together, these programs create an integrated experience where local action fuels global insight. Global Service Week empowers students to lead projects, reflect on their impact and build the mindset of socially responsible business leaders who think globally and act locally.
Global Service Week builds on the success of previous community engagement initiatives, like JSOM’s Day of Service, a large-scale volunteer event that will bring together students, staff and faculty to make a collective impact across multiple local projects. Similarly, Global Service Week will draw on that same collaborative spirit, working alongside student organizations such as Odyssey and the JSOM Undergraduate Dean’s Council to promote civic responsibility, leadership development and global awareness.
