Help the Dallas Formula Racing team meet their goal!

Dallas Formula Racing is the official Formula SAE team in Richardson, Texas. We’re a student-led engineering organization that designs, builds, tests and competes with formula-style racecars against other universities. Our team brings together over 300 active members from 3 different majors, including engineering, computer science, business and more, to turn classroom knowledge into real-world innovation. 

This year, we’re fundraising to purchase a new set of Hoosier racing tires for our 2026 Formula SAE competition car. Tires are a critical component that directly affects the car’s handling, safety and performance. Through extensive testing and competition use, our current tires have worn down and degraded. New tires are essential as we prepare for the upcoming UTA Autocross and Formula SAE Michigan competitions. 

In motorsport, the quality and use of every component matter. Tires are what connect the car to the track. Without reliable, high-grip tires, our car cannot perform safely and competitively. Replacing our current set will allow us to continue testing, refining our designs and representing UT Dallas at the national level. Supporting this project means helping a multitude of students apply their engineering principles to a real-world challenge.

Our goal is to raise $5,000 to fully cover the cost of a new set of Hoosier tires and related testing expenses. Reaching this goal ensures our car will be equipped with safe, competition-ready tires for our 2026 race season. Once we hit our goal, we will be able to continue our full-scale testing and attend competitions with confidence in our car’s performance and reliability. 

All of the funds will go directly towards purchasing a new set of Hoosier racing tires, shipping and mounting. These tires will be used for both testing and competition to optimize our car’s setup and data collection throughout the upcoming year. 

If we surpass our $5,000 goal, additional funds will help us purchase spare tires for testing and any other events we choose to participate in. Every dollar beyond our goal directly enhances the team’s ability to refine our vehicle and perform at a higher level. 

Your support would empower hundreds of UT Dallas students to apply what they’ve learned in engineering, design and teamwork at a real-world competition. It would help us represent UT Dallas on a national stage, strengthen technical skills and prepare students for future careers in the automotive and technology industries. Beyond competition, DFR also inspires younger students and showcases the innovation happening on the UTD campus. 

Founded less than a decade ago, Dallas Formula Racing has become one of UTD’s largest student engineering organizations. Our mission is to provide hands-on learning experiences through design, manufacturing and competition of high-performance racecars. Regardless of their major and experience, our members gain practical experience in everything from CAD design and electronics to marketing and logistics.
