Help UTD pre-med students tour medical school!
Molding Doctors is a student-led organization committed to supporting aspiring physicians with the guidance, community and resources they often lack. Founded on the belief that the journey to medicine should be cooperative, not competitive, Molding Doctors has become a cornerstone for pre-med students at The University of Texas at Dallas who are navigating one of the most rigorous and demanding career paths. With mentorship programs, speaker panels, clinical opportunities and peer support, our organization exists to make sure no student has to walk this path alone. In the last year, our dedication to service and leadership was nationally recognized when we earned both the Golden Comet Award and President of the Year Award, honors that reflect our commitment to excellence and impact on campus.

This year, we are continuing and hoping to expand on one of our most ambitious initiatives yet: the Medical School Tour program. For many pre-med students, the dream of becoming a doctor feels distant until they physically step onto a medical school campus and see themselves belonging there. Our project aims to bring about 20-30 students to various medical schools, giving them the opportunity to walk through classrooms, speak with representatives of those schools, ask candid questions to current medical students and gain truthful clarity about their future. Visiting a medical school is more than an inspiring moment, it’s the turning point where uncertainty becomes determination.
We are seeking to raise $2,000 to make this vision a reality. Reaching this goal is crucial, as it will directly cover essential travel expenses such as transportation and food. Without these funds, many of our students, especially those who are first-generation college students, financially limited or without family support in medicine simply would not have the opportunity to attend. By meeting our goal, we can fully sponsor the core group of 30 students and guarantee that financial status will not be a barrier to accessing this experience.
Every dollar donated has a direct and practical impact. Contributions will go toward bus rides and meals, ensuring our students can complete a fully guided tour of multiple medical schools. If we are fortunate enough to reach our stretch goal of $2,200, the additional $200 will be used to cover transport expenses such as fuel for officers who will be carpooling members. This will allow us to extend participation to even more students.
The impact of this program extends far beyond a single trip. It strengthens the pre-med community at UT Dallas, increases representation among future physicians and creates a ripple effect that will return to our campus through mentorship, preparation and leadership. Students who participate will come back not only with inspiration, but with firsthand knowledge that they will pass down to new members. Ultimately, our goal is not just to give students a tour of medical schools, but to inspire them and impart them with meaningful life experiences.

What sets Molding Doctors apart is our culture of service and authenticity. One of our goals is to show that you don’t have to have a white coat to make a difference in your community. In that goal, our officer team leads by example. We work hard to bring meaningful experiences to life for our members, as well as provide them with opportunities to grow, learn and integrate themselves in their community. We’re not just training future doctors; we’re shaping future leaders of empathy, integrity and inclusion. Our organization continues to grow because students see that we’re a family, united by a shared dream and driven by collective effort. To those considering supporting us: you’re not just funding a program. You’re investing in a generation of physicians who will one day hold the hands of patients, comfort families and lead with compassion. Your support turns hope into opportunity and ambition into action. Together, we can open the doors that so many students have never had the chance to walk through.
