ABOUT US

The UTD Wind Energy Club, also known as Comet Wind, is a diverse, student-led organization of over 45 active members from engineering, computer science, business and arts backgrounds. Students on our team dedicate countless hours outside of class and work to drive their passion into action. Not only focusing on engineering, but Comet Wind also encompasses all aspects of the wind energy industry, including research, design, manufacturing, marketing, project management, finance, siting and testing. Our team has successfully produced valuable candidates for various internships/jobs, such as Texas Instruments, Leeward Renewable Energy, Invenergy, NREL, Qorvo, Firefly Aerospace and more. 

TRAVEL

This year, we will partake in the Western region of the Collegiate Wind Competition (CWC) which will be hosted in the San Francisco area. One drastic change is that the Department of Energy and National Renewable Energy Laboratories are currently unable to provide us with funding needed for travel. 

Due to the lack of funding, we are campaigning for $1,000 to assist with the expense of renting vehicles in San Francisco. Your support will

  • Fund our Journey: Directly cover essential logistics, allow our students to focus on the competition, not the costs.
  • Provide Hands-On Experience: Allow more students to attend who would otherwise be unable to experience the CWC.
  • Cultivate Future Leaders: Help foster the next generation of professionals to lead the clean energy transition.
