Help the Reserve Chess Team reach their goal!

Who We Are

We are the UT Dallas Reserve Chess Team, a group of nationally rated student competitors representing UTD. This winter, we are looking to send our students to the Pan-American Intercollegiate Chess Championship in Chicago, IL. Pan-Ams is the largest collegiate chess tournament in North America, and it will be a great opportunity for our players to compete at a national level.

Our Goal

We want to raise $5,000 to cover the costs of flights, hotels, tournament fees and food. If we reach this goal, we will be able to send two full teams of four players each to Pan-Ams without anyone paying out-of-pocket. This will be the first time we are sending two teams to Pan-Ams, making it a historic and exciting opportunity for the club.

Here’s how the funds will be used:

• Flights (round-trip to Chicago): $3,000
• Hotel rooms (Three nights x Four rooms): $1,300
• Tournament entry fee: $480
• Food: ~$50-100 per person

Impact

UT Dallas has one of the best collegiate chess teams in the nation, with many International Masters and even Grandmasters on the team. Everyone on the Reserve Team has a rating of over 2000, which is among the top 1% of players worldwide. With your support, we’ll have the chance to compete at the highest level in our section as we will likely be the top-seeded teams, giving us a strong chance to win. Your donation will help us chase a national title, which brings a great sense of pride to UT Dallas and its surrounding community.

Our Group

Our group is the UT Dallas Chess Club, which is open to players of all skill levels. We host weekly casual meetups, tournaments and special events that bring together students who share a passion for chess. Our goal is to make chess accessible for all UTD students to take part in the game. The Reserve Team consists of our strongest players who consistently train and compete in tournaments.
