Help the UTD Undergraduate Law Review group reach their goal!

The University of Texas at Dallas Undergraduate Law Review (UTDULR) is a prestigious academic journal run by undergraduate students that is dedicated to exploring the intricacies of law and policy. Each semester, our team of editors, writers and executive staff collectively produce high-quality law review articles, host events and seminars and help prepare students pursuing careers in law and public service. Our organization’s initiatives are crucial as they foster critical thinking and a deeper understanding of policy and law among students from diverse academic backgrounds, equipping them with essential skills that transcend their educational pursuits.

Our primary project this year is to enhance the scope and reach of our publication to provide a platform for students to research, write and publish their work on various legal topics. We aim to do this by using the money raised to directly support our operational costs, such as printing and publication fees, organizational materials, social events, third party editorial software and other larger outreach initiatives that expand access to legal research resources on campus for our members. The funding raised will serve as a contribution that will help us maintain UTDULR’s contributions to student-led legal research.

To realize our vision for this year, we have set a fundraising goal of $1,500. Achieving this target is vital to our efforts for several reasons: it will cover our annual publication’s printing and distribution costs, enable us to host workshops and speaker events and enhance our marketing outreach to ensure our journal reaches the widest possible audience. Meeting this goal will allow us to uphold our commitment to academic integrity and produce high-quality content that enriches legal discourse.

The funds raised will be as follows:

• 30% of this cost will be used to cover printing and distribution for the physical copies of our legal publication.
• 50% will be used for speaker events including but not limited to annual legal research and writing symposium and hosting prestigious judges and legal academics on UTD’s campus.
• 20% of the cost will be used to fund subscriptions to research databases and legal writing textbooks to build the array of resources we offer students.

Should we exceed our fundraising goal, we have identified several stretch goals that would significantly enhance our impact:

• Enhanced Advertising and Outreach: Additional funds would allow us to expand our publication’s reach by investing in numerous advertising and outreach strategies.
• Digital Presence Development: We aim to upgrade our website and online platforms, making our research and articles more accessible and engaging through multimedia content.
• Expanded Social event and Workshop Offerings: Increased funding would enable us to offer a broader range of workshops and lecture seminars in which we can invite legal professionals, academics and other prominent lecturers. Additionally, the funding would go towards social and networking events for students’ part of and connected to UTDULR.

UTDULR is composed of a passionate group of undergraduate students from diverse academic disciplines, united by a shared commitment to legal scholarship and analysis. Our mission is to cultivate a collaborative environment that empowers students to master writing, editing and legal research skills. We maintain high academic standards and strive to produce high-quality content that contributes to the legal discourse on significant policy issues.

The impact of UTDULR extends well beyond our group. By providing a platform for undergraduate students to publish their legal research, we are fostering a community of informed, engaged citizens who are better prepared for future careers in law and related fields. Our workshops and events create valuable networking opportunities and offer practical insights into the legal profession, benefiting students at UT Dallas and the wider community by promoting informed discussions on critical legal issues.
