Help us attend this year's UX Conference

The User Experience Club, or UX Club, at UT Dallas is the largest design-focused student organization on campus and one of the three biggest tech student organizations at the university. Since its establishment, the club has been dedicated to spreading awareness of design thinking and user-centered design while building a strong community for students who are passionate about creativity, technology, and problem-solving.

Our group is seeking funding for our 7th annual professional UX Conference, which will take place this spring. Since 2019, this conference has become a signature event for our organization and something students look forward to each year. The purpose of the conference is to bring professionals in UX design, research, and adjacent fields directly to UT Dallas so students can gain industry knowledge, stay updated on emerging trends, and better understand the future outlook of the field. As the UX industry is still relatively new, opportunities like this are incredibly valuable. Our conference has grown beyond campus recognition. Last year, we welcomed attendees from UT Arlington and the University of Oklahoma, further establishing our presence across North Texas.

Reaching our funding goal will allow us to elevate the conference experience and bring it even closer to the level of a large professional event. Each year, we strive not just to scale the event, but to upgrade it in terms of execution, detail, and thoughtful planning. Maintaining this tradition of excellence is important to us, as our attendees have come to expect a high-quality, professional environment. The funds will primarily support hospitality for both professionals and participants by helping us provide meals, drinks, and snacks throughout the full-day event from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Creating a welcoming and well-prepared atmosphere ensures that attendees can focus on learning, networking, and engaging with the experience without distraction.

The impact of this project extends far beyond a single day. Our conference has consistently supported the growth of UX students while also benefiting those studying design, technology, and product management. Rather than requiring students to travel long distances to attend professional conferences, our mission is to bring that opportunity directly to the UT Dallas campus. By doing so, we help students build confidence in networking, explore career paths, and engage with professionals in meaningful ways. Because UX is an evolving field, this exposure plays a critical role in preparing students for their future careers and has proven valuable to students across multiple universities who are pursuing this path.

UX Club was founded with the vision of fostering a design-centered community at UT Dallas. While the University is widely recognized for its strengths in creativity, art, and technology, the Harry W. Bass Jr. School of Arts, Humanities, and Technology does not currently offer a major specifically dedicated to UX or product design. Our club helps bridge that gap by creating a space where students with a design mindset can learn, grow, and connect with the industry. Over the past 10 years, we have welcomed more than 900 members, with approximately 90 active members today. In addition to our annual conference, we have successfully hosted Design-a-thon — a 24-hour design competition — for the past two years, further demonstrating our commitment to experiential learning and professional development.

Through every initiative, our mission remains the same: to empower students, strengthen the design community, and make professional opportunities more accessible. Supporting this conference means investing not only in a single event, but in the continued growth of a student-driven community that is shaping the future of design at UT Dallas and beyond.
